More ways to save energy and money:
LIGHTS
- Turn them off when you're not around, and let windows provide light wherever possible.
- Use timers - and keep them properly set (i.e. no outside lights during the day).
- Replace incandescent bulbs with ENERGY STAR®fluorescent bulbs.
- Use LED lamps for exit signs instead of incandescents.
- Replace T-12 fixtures with T-8s and electronic ballasts.
- Install occupancy sensors to shut off lights when rooms are not in use.
HEATING & COOLING
- Make sure doors and windows have tight seals and keep them closed when running your air conditioning system.
- Properly insulate all exterior walls, ceilings and wall cavities.
- Turn off fans when the building is not in use.
- Install ENERGY STAR programmable thermostats and locking covers to prevent tampering.
- Use ENERGY STAR roofing material with high reflectance.
- Check equipment regularly (evaporative coolers, fans, pumps, etc.) for proper operation and maintenance needs.
OFFICE EQUIPMENT
- Activate "sleep" mode on computers for highest energy efficiency.
- Turn off printers, copiers, coffee machine at the end of the day and desk lamps and fans when not in use.
